A letter from Tony Joe White regarding his new album "The Path Of A Decent Groove".

"This was the first time in my career that I had the time (4 months) to work on an album and really take time with the guitars and keyboards and drums and make sure there was absolutely nothing on the tape that didn't belong there.
Most of the songs are self explanatory, but I'll bring up things about a few".

On The Return To Muscle Shoals of course is about recording "Closer To The Truth" and the following tour over Europe. The Hawk on The Hood is about Roger Hawkins and David Hood, and Little Stevie Windows is a nickname for Steve Nathan (keyboards).

Catawalking Alley In Nice is about the hotel by the alley full of cats when I did the concert with Joe Cocker. The Princess in her Bel-Air suite is Tina Turner.

Backside of Paradise is a song LeAnn wrote ond of course it is about a man with THE BLUES.

Always The Same is about LeAnn and the thread of passion, which is THE SONG that's always there between us.

Mojo Dollar This is a man who has been hoo-doo-ed and almost hypnotises the swamp animals with his guitar!

I Wanna Be With You This one is about someone you will never get over even though they walk away every now and then.

The Coldness Of The Chain is very personal and is about all of our struggles to be free inside. The words are true.

Tina I wanted to say how I felt about her and it could only done in a song. I wrote it after I went to Nutbush for her documentary.

2 Hot 4 U explains it by itself.

Up In Arkansas This one is about the old ranch I bought up in the Ozark Mountain in 1970, and the laidback times I have up there.

Jaguar Man Says it by itself.

The Path Of A Decent Groove This one is about myself, my two sons, my wive and my daughter.

Tony Joe White, 1993.
